Trip to Florida

Andrew, Alexander & I took off for 8 days to the lovely town of The Villages! I have been doing this trip since I was 18 years old and have never missed a winter. It's always wonderful to get out of the snowy, cold MI winters for a short time. We had a great time and pretty decent weather!! Andrew & I were able to take a few days to ourselves and leave the monster behind with Mimi & Papa, we had a great time! We left on Sunday morning not knowing where we were going to end up but I guess that's what made it even more of an adventure! Because of (wonderful) Facebook we knew some friends of ours from MI, Tracey & Jay, were close by so we decided to head down to Clearwater. The weather was a little chilly but the sun was shining and that's all we needed :)

Monday morning we got up and knew we wanted to head to Siesta Key but had no place to stay so while in Siesta Key having lunch we did a little research and found a very small efficiency apartment. We're talking murphy bed small! miniature fridge & stove small! Duck down to get your head under the shower head small! But, we were only there for a night so we dealt with it. It was perfect location - right across the street from the beach and 5 minute walking distance to town! We went to the beach, no swimming, way too cold! Spent some time at "The Cottage" (if you are ever there check it out, the food looked phenomenal) listening to a great, live, 1-man band! Did some souvenir shopping and than did dinner at The SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) and had a fabulous meal!!

Also, while in Siesta Key, our neighbors were telling us that there are the most beautiful sunsets at night. When I looked out it seemed cloudy and that it wouldn't really show up so I told Andrew to go get ready to go to dinner while I sat on the porch and waited. After about 5 minutes I looked up and the sky was glowing red so I ran in the room, grabbed the camera and ran across the street. Andrew was not real happy with me!

We got home Wednesday afternoon, tired, slightly hungover but so ready to see A!! We spent the rest of our week swimming at the pool, dancing in town square, visiting Uncle Donald's farm, visiting with family & friends and playing in Mimi & Papa's car! A was obsessed with playing in the car, I have a real fight on my hands now that we are home and he can't stay out in the car to play. Here are a few more pics from our family vacation...

Thanks mom & dad for taking us in, watching our little man and putting up with the dirty finger prints everywhere! And thanks to Brian & momma Jane for putting up with our furry monster, Wally hasn't done anything since we've been home!
